KT tape is a versatile longitudinally elastic tape that can be used in techniques and applications of both the white athletic tape and McConnell taping by placing the tape on partial or full stretch though has several features for additional techniques and benefit. KT tape’s construction does allow for both more versatile use and longer duration use than other common taping. Kinesiology taping techniques have been used in Asia and Europe for nearly two decades though started becoming popular in the US in the late 1990s. These techniques were more recently seen on the world stage and gained notoriety during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Proprioception KT tape can be used to create pressure over ligaments and tendons for improved proprioception and dynamic stability. This also has been theorized to stimulate mechanoreceptors thus improving proprioception. Diagnoses for these techniques include — ankle sprains, medial and lateral ligament sprains of the knee and patella tendonitis among many other applications. Functional Correction KT taping can also be used for functional correction that is assisting or limiting a motion through sensory stimulation and tactile cueing. Applications include position-and-hold technique and work very well for diagnoses which include patellofemoral dysfunction, subacromial impingement due to scapula/postural dysfunction.

I cleaned my skin thoroughly before applying the tape, thinking the first time I used it, I wasn't clean enough... however, both times, the tape began to peel off during the first 45 minutes of my long distance run(s). On the KT Web site, the company claims that the tape can be worn up to 5 days; I guess there is a difference between "can be born up to" and "will stick for". Not worth the money.

I suffered from really bad knee injuries from doing Insanity workout by Beachbody. I rested for a long time, unable to heal. I tried Chopat but those things get loose after a while and the velcro won't stick.
My friend who had some injuries from playing soccer recommended KT Tape to me and I have never looked back since. The tape support my knees well and coupled with some physical therapies, I was back to working out in no time. For weeks, I experienced very minimal to no pain in my knees with KT Tape. Occasionally, if I over-exert myself with all the plyometrics, I will feel pain but generally it passes away in 1-2 days.
KT Tape really works for me. My friend never complains about pain anymore since he started using it too.
The only complain I have about this product (other than the price) is that it does not tend to stick well. Let me explain. It sticks well if you apply it on 30minutes to 1 hour before your workout and you really rub it well. If your hand touches the adhesive or if you tape it and remove and re-tape, then the glue won't be staying there well.
I usually wear KT Tape for about 3 days before changing due to its expensive pricing. Sometimes, after shower, the tape starts to unstick itself so I have to use other athletic tape to hold it there.
Suggestion: try KT Tape by itself first. If it does not stick well, tape the key anchor places with other athletic tapes.
The product itself is GOOD. It does what it is designed to do. Just that the adhesive might not be strong sometimes.
