Purchased after my george foreman started dropping top griddle. this is great and great size for 1-2 persons. Gets hot enough to create grill marks and cooks in 1\2 time.. Only downside is does not auto turnoff. Easy to insert and plates. Plates are easy to care for buy hand washing. Don't hesitate to purchase.

I would not buy it again. It takes FOREVER for this thing to heat up to high - which is basically what you'd use most of the time. FOREVER? More than 5 minutes. Not exactly a convenience thing. I think it must just be underpowered because the cord is pretty wimpy.
Otherwise, the temperature knob on the front is pretty crappy. Way to go. 3c saved on manufacture vs a normal stove quality knob. The Stainless steel body is more like a stainless foil body. Looks nice, but not really solid. The giant handle to lift up the lid is a joke. Market research must've told them people think a big handle means quality. It's like one of those giant claws on a fiddler crap. Ridiculously outsized for the purpose. (That might not be fair. Female compact griddler appliances might find that big handle very attractive).

So I was checking the dimensions listed for this item and compared it to the regular size griddle.
It states that the compact is 14.90" x 6.65" x12.50 while the regular size is 13.50" x 11.50" x 7.12 Do the math. They are basically the same size! In fact the regular size is shorter in length. It gains an inch in depth, but seeing as how it is a little more than half an inch shorter in length anyway, it's basically the same size.
I checked the dimensions on the cuisineart website to be sure and their website also confirmed the measurements.
So I don't really get the whole "compact" marketing. Perhaps it's half the price because it's made with less durability, but they chose to call it "compact" to sell to those who are not willing to pay for the better product? - I don't know. Especially since I've never used the regular sized version.
I've only used this twice so far and it works well. But Now I'm wondering about the full size version since it's basically the same size anyway and I can't see why it would be twice the price. It can't just be because there are no waffle plates for this model. It's obviously not more size that you're paying for there.
